Despite the adverse weather conditions, the preschool is still running today, albeit on a reduced number.   Expect to see lots of snowy creations.  Kay is not in today as she is on a training course but hopes Anne will take lots of photos which we can put on the computer as a slide show for you to share!
A list of party food for donations will be posted on the notice board this week for the Christmas Party on Friday 17th December - all children are welcome whether they usually attend this day or not.  Santa will be visiting!  Please let staff know if you would like to help.
Friday 26th Nov
On Friday 3rd December we are all going to East Coker School to see the Infant's Christmas show.  Staff will walk the children there at 9.30 and back by 12.00.  If you have an older child at the school you can meet playgroup staff there at 9.00 top drop off your little ones to save you coming up to us.  No lunches that day.  (If your child goes to School Sept 2011 and Friday is not their usual day they may join us at the school - just speak to staff).
Busy making lots of glittering things for Christmas and sharing Christmas stories, songs and rhymes.
Our Christmas Show is on Monday 13th and Thursday 16th this year (there are too many of you to have it on one day only!)  If your child attends both days thats fine but we would ask you only come to see them on one and let us know which to ensure there is space for other parents etc.  If your child does not attend either day we welcome them on the day of your choice but please let staff know.  Children should arrive at 9.00 as usual and you are invited to return at 11.00 to be entertained.  There will be seasonal refreshments.
16th November
Tuesday:  Fabulous crisp frost and sunshine.  We explored outside, looking at how and why the frost had melted in some areas of the field but not in others due to the shadows of trees and building.  We compared the tall tree shadows and the shorter building shadows - then we found the children's shadows and chased around to see if we could stand on them.  They made shapes with their shadows and we examined the frosty leaves with the magnifiers.  Great fun, lots of running to keep warm.
15th November
Craft Fair - this was a great success and a lovely day (as usual).  This was our 17th annual craft fair and we had a few different stands this year - the chutneys were very popular!  We also had face painting and Christmas crafts for the children to keep them occupied while you enjoyed the fair and refreshments of home made cakes or our light lunches.  Chilli sold out very quickly this year.  As usual the portrait and family photographer was there taking pictures for you - great Christmas presents for grandparents or relatives abroad.
